Thermographic Imaging
Thermal Imaging or Infrared Scanning of electrical switchgear and mechanical plant provides an additional view of switchgear/plant condition not normally available utilizing normal visual methods of inspection. Thermal Imaging is able to detect minor thermal variations in equipment some of which may signal a fault or impending condition of fault. Temperatures of concern are generally seen as a thermal rise of 15°C or more above ambient temperature and/or above neighbouring and/or equipment. Some may be load related or due to high resistance via loose or poor connections, or the results of variations in harmonics.
It is has known to be assumed that sub 60°C thermal conditions may not be of concern, but electrical fault conditions are generally preceded by a thermal rise therefore providing an early warning. Thermal conditions may also be identified in equipment loaded below its maximum rated capacity and in ambient conditions below the 40°C that Australian Standards generally employ.
During testing, Information is gathered and recommendations are made to rectify issues in a detailed report supplied to the customer before they cause electrical or mechanical faults and become a major concern.
DCE Contracting performs IR inspections as part of a general preventative maintenance program and inspections are usually performed on an annual basis.

Maintenance ScheduleWe will look after the re-accuring maintenance schedule and ensure that you have the piece of mind that your equipment is operating as safely and as best as it can.

Detailed ReportingAs a part of the Thermal Imaging service offered, a comprehensive report of the various switchboards and devices scanned will be provided. This report will contain the location of the equipment scanned and thermal and digital images detailing temperature of the equipment being scanned thus highlighting immediate as well as potential issues. There is also priority markers and suggestions on the action required to maintain the highest possible safety standards of the electrical installation and components within.
|
Follow UpIt is recommended that actions are taken based on the priority markers to repair identified issues contained within the report. Further regular inspections are recommended to assist with effective maintenance and reduction of costly unscheduled downtime and failures.
